Happy Track Out!

It's hard to believe that 2nd quarter is more than halfway done, but the mid-year mark is almost here!  That means that during track out students will have 3 whole weeks to do some very important things.

Track Out Practice:
During this track out students will not have a "track out packet," instead they will need to be practicing their multiplication tables.  There are lots of great websites with memorization games for them, flash cards from the Dollar Tree work great, and old school paper & pencil are still very helpful!  So please encourage your child to STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, while they are tracked out.  This will help make their work in math much easier, once they are all memorized.

Some helpful websites I found are:

Spelling Bee:
Banks Road Elementary will be participating in the Scripts Spelling Bee again this year.  Students who want to participate must fill out a permission form that was sent home 2 weeks ago.  If they need another form, please contact the front office or Ms. Foxworth.  Our top 2 winners from our class spelling bee will be participating in the schoolwide bee on December 12th, 2011.  From there the school winner will participate in the Regional Bee at NC State University!  Best of luck to all the participants & study hard!!!!

Quarter 2 Interims:
Please check your child's Friday Folder today for their Quarter 2 Interim.  During 2nd quarter, students who are not meeting grade level expectations in any subject and/or work habits & conduct will be receiving an interim.  Please go through this information with your child at home and let me know if you have any questions and would like to schedule a conference.

Field Trips:
Next week we have our first field trip, which will be held in school through High Tech High Touch.  This program will cover our science objectives about Plants & Soil.  The cost of this field trip is $8.50.  If you have not paid for the trip yet, please send in your child's fee as soon as possible.  If there are extenuating cirumstances about paying for the trip, please contact me at [email protected].  Thank you!

Track Out:
Next Thursday is our last day of school before tracking out.  Students will not have a Track Out Packet this time, but will be signing a contract that promises to practice their mulitplication facts over the next few weeks.  Multiplication is a very daunting task for some students to practice/memorize and the students agreed to studying them over Track Out.  Please assisst your child in studying these facts as much as possible.  You can find easy flash cards at places like Target & The Dollar Tree!
