It has been a very eventful week for Team Sonntag!  We have been working so hard in class and had 3 exciting events to attend this week.  Pioneer Day was a great success and the students absolutely loved it!  Thank you so much to the parents of Team Sonntag for all of their support with donating all of the supplies needed and volunteering to help out in the room that day.  Words can't express our gratitude for everything that you do!  Also, we were able to attend our last in school field trip with HighTouch HighTech on Wednesday.  During this field trip we explored the science objectives form 3rd quarter about the Sun, Moon, & Stars.  We were even able to "launch" a rocket to the moon.  Lastly, we had the chance to work with the Artist in Residence for BRES this week.  The class had the opportunity to learn about a 300 year old loom used for weaving.  We  brought in our own items to weave into a school tapestry that will stay at BRES to display the students' items.  All of these great moments were captured on camera, so please check out the updated photos on the "What We Are Up To" page of the website!

With EOG's quickly approaching, the students have been hard at work learning new skills and reviewing old ones.  We have started to review a plethora of math and reading EOG vocabulary that students have been working with daily in the classroom.  I am also so proud of the class for taking the initiative to study the words at home before they were assigned it for homework!  We will continue to work with the vocabulary and different skills for the EOG.

Also, the students will be getting a new type of homework next week that will even further prepare them for testing.  Therewill be no traditional homework for the next few weeks.  Instead students will be working on a review packet for reading and math.  Inside this packet there are stories with comprehension questions for each night and a list of math problems the student should also complete daily.  These new homework packets will start on Monday night.

Therefore, students will not have to keep a reading log for reading 20 minutes each night, unless they would still like to do so.  Also students will not have spelling words sent home and will not have to do any spelling point activities.  Instead of spelling words, students will be studying definitions of EOG vocabulary words.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the new homework and I would be happy to answer them!
