This week sure has gone by fast!  Our class is hard at work and already back into our regular schedule.  I already have received a lot of Friday Folders, report card envelopes, and the Intent Survey for BRES students for the upcoming school year.  If you have not returned these back to school, please have your child bring them as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Learning Meets Real Life:
On Tuesday this week, we had a special visitor from Feed The Bin come to the 3rd grade and talk about the benefits of recycling and composting.  This matched our science objectives about soil perfectly and the students loved connecting it to real life.  Check out the "What We Are Up To" page to see pictures of this visit.

Quarter 3 Field Trip:
Believe it or not, our next field trip is coming up soon!  Our class will be going to the Morehead Planetarium on Friday, February 3rd!  If you have not paid for this fieldtrip yet, please send in the money as soon as possible.  This is definitely a more paperwork and cost intensive trip due to the distance we will be traveling from Raleigh to Chapel Hill.

Adult chaperone space is limited and I will need to use a first come first serve plan for allowing adults for the trip.  Most parents have already contacted me in the beginning of the year about wanting to chaperone and priority will be given to those parents.  If a space opens up, I will notify other parents in order to allow as many adults as possible to go.  I apologize for any disappointment this may cause, but the planetarium has limited seating and we will not be the only school in attendance.  The cost per adult is $6.00, which will cover their ticket only.  Chaperones must provide their own mode of transportation.  Student prices are $13.50, because of the cost of transportation and tickets.  If you are financially unable to pay the cost of the field trip please let me know and we can try to work something out.  Permission forms for this trip will go home on Friday, January 6th and must be returned ASAP!  Thank you!
